Cooking in the Community
We pride myself in providing 'hands-on', warm, friendly and professional cookery sessions across the Island, working with groups and people from all walks of life.
Some of our lovely customers from 2013/14 :
- East Cowes Children's Centre - weaning sessions and cookery classes
- Southern Housing Group - providing demonstration cookery sessions for older clients in sheltered accommodation
- West Newport Children's Centre - weaning sessions; packed lunch ideas and cookery classes
- Diabetes 'hands-on' cookery classes as well as presentations and talks
- Sandown Library - healthy cookery demonstration
- Spectrum Housing - delivering an NVQ in Bread Making Enterprise working with teenagers at The Foyer
- West Wight Children's Centre - providing 'hands-on' family cookery sessions
- Gunville Residents' Association - cooking and enjoying lunch together
- Ryde Children's Centre - delivering talks and 1:1 support on weaning
I write each and every recipe for these sessions which is relevant to each and every group. The recipes are based on healthy eating, as well as cooking on a budget. Incorporated in these sessions is good food hygiene practice along with general discussion centred around challenges faced - i.e. living in a bedsit with a young baby; coping with 'picky eaters'; special dietary requirements, etc.
You are assured of a warm welcome - we love working with people from all walks of life, with different cookery skills - some people have a fairly good knowledge of cookery and some have never made a dish. New friendships are made, and a support network established.
I am a member of The Institute for Learning and hold a current CRB check along with an up to date Child Protection Certificate.
